Fans of both stars were quick to add their own words of praise, commenting that Balfe “deserves it” because “she was wonderful and so was all the cast” of Belfast—which includes Ciaran Hands and Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan (as “Pa”), who both likewise nabbed Golden Globe ad Critics Choice noms in the Supporting Actor categories. In fact, Belfast tied for the most-nominated movie in the Critics Choice Awards alongside West Side Story—a feat that Balfe acknowledged when she wrote on Instagram, “So proud of our Belfast family… thank you so much @CriticsChoice.” She likewise gave a shoutout to her Belfast team—as well as fellow Supporting Actress nominees Ruth Negga, Kirsten Dunst, Ariana DeBose and Aunjanue Ellis—in a separate post celebrating the Golden Globe noms.
