The princess posted on her stories to say, “To celebrate dear Meghan’s 40th birthday I’m contributing 40 minutes of mentorship to support women reentering the workforce.” She went on, “In the past two years, tens of millions of women around the world have departed the workforce. “If you can, please join me and commit 40 minutes to community, service or mentorship.” The 40x40 initiative was the Duchess of Sussex’s idea, and teamed up with comedy superstar Melissa McCarthy to explain how it works in a video that marked the first time we’ve seen Meghan since she gave birth to her daughter Lili in June. She turns 40 today, and to mark the occasion she’s asking 40 of her friends to commit 40 minutes of their time to support women who are re-entering the workforce after the COVID pandemic. On a statement on Archewell’s website Meghan wrote, “With my 40th lap around the sun in mind, it made me wonder: what would happen if we all committed 40 minutes to helping someone else or to mentoring someone in need? And then what would happen if we asked our friends to do the same?” Meanwhile, members of the royal family took to social media to wish Meghan a happy birthday.
