In the meantime, keep reading as we answer all of the frequently asked questions about Peacock TV—what’s included in the streaming service, how much it costs, which shows and movies are available, how to stream, and more—as well as weighing the pros and cons of the streaming service.
What is Peacock TV?
The on-demand NBCUniversal streaming service was first made available to Comcast’s Xfinity TV and broadband-only customers on April 15, 2020. Then, on July 15, 2020, it debuted nationally, offering both free and premium versions to customers. Peacock TV encompasses different pricing and service tiers: There’s Peacock Free, Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus—more on the details of each, including each version’s price, below.
Is Peacock free?
There is an ad-supported version of Peacock that is free. With up to 7,500 hours of programming, you’ll find everything from next-day access to current seasons of shows to movies and classic series—though notably, not Friends—as well. The free version also affords you access to daily news clips, curated channels, Telemundo and select episodes of Peacock originals.
What is Peacock Premium?
Peacock Premium is the streaming platform’s tier up from the free version. With Peacock Premium, you unlock more movies, more episodes, all seasons of the service’s shows and even live sports. That’s a total of 15,000 hours of both live and on-demand content, according to Peacock. Premium is also required in order to access current seasons of WWE Originals, every WWE, WCW, and ECW pay-per-view event, and as of right now, to watch WrestleMania, too. It does, however, still have ads.
What is Peacock Premium Plus?
The third and final tier of Peacock TV is Premium Plus, which unlocks everything that Premium does—only with fewer ads. If you’re looking for (mostly) ad-free TV, then Peacock Premium Plus is definitely the version for you. Here’s what we mean by “mostly ad-free:” Peacock totes Premium Plus as its ad-free version, but it does have to run, according to its website, “a small amount of programming [that] will still contain ads” due to “streaming rights.”
How much does Peacock TV cost?
Peacock Free is, well, as the name suggests, free, but it relies on ads to keep the service at no cost. Peacock Premium—which is still an ad-supported version of the platform—costs $4.99/monthly. Or, you can opt for an annual membership that costs $49.99 per year. Finally, Peacock Premium Plus costs $9.99 per month and—thankfully!—offers everything you can get with Premium, only with significantly fewer ads. If you already have Peacock Premium, you can upgrade to Premium Plus for an additional $5/monthly or an additional $50 per year. The annual membership for Premium Plus costs $100/year.

Is Peacock worth it?
Peacock has a massive library that includes everything from beloved comedies from NBCUniversal networks like Bravo, NBC, Oxygen, and Syfy to movies from Universal Pictures. While it totally depends on what you enjoy watching, it’s safe to say that Peacock is totally worth it for anyone who tends to binge The Office or Parks and Recreation over and over again. Still, there’s more to the streaming service than Amy Poehler and John Kransinski. Peacock is also the only place to view the most recent season of Yellowstone (though its counterpart prequel 1883 can only be found on Paramount +) and for Real Housewives fans, it’s also the only streaming service offering the Housewives spinoff Ultimate Girls Trip. Other Peacock TV originals worth noting include Bel-Air (a dramatic remake of the classic ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Girls5eva (starring Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps and Paula Pell), Paris in Love (starring Paris Hilton), Dr. Death (starring Joshua Jackson, AnnaSophia Robb, Christian Slater, and Alec Baldwin), and Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol. Whether you stream the free version or pay anywhere from $4.99 to $9.99 per month, Peacock is definitely one of the most cost-effective streaming platforms right now—especially for all that you unlock with a membership.
