“We’ve sponsored the event so everyone will have a wee Sassenach tonight,” Heughan cheekily revealed during a red carpet interview about his liquor brand. In another red carpet Q&A, Heughan shared some tantalizing spoilers about what fans can expect from the premiere episode of Outlander Season 6—including that it’s super-sized! “It’s a great episode, it’s a long one, a feature-length episode,” Heughan said. “There’s some surprises a well, [the fans are] gonna enjoy it.” He then went on to share a few secrets about what happens first in the Season 6 premiere. “The very opening scene, it’s not a spoiler, but it’s a bit of a flashback,” he said. “And it was not only the first scene ever shot in the whole season, but the last scene, because we had to reshoot it. It’s a very famous location in Scotland and it’s beautiful so it’s a great opener.” One Outlander star who wasn’t able to attend the event in person? Caitriona Balfe, who plays Heughan’s onscreen wife, Claire Fraser. As she explained in a Feb. 23 tweet, her duties as a new mom to her son, who was born in the summer of 2021, made it difficult to travel to the premiere. The good news is that Balfe did get to attend virtually, and while her absence was felt on the red carpet, it’s clear that the rest of the Outlander gang—including Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, Lauren Lyle, Cesar Domboy, Caitlin O’Ryan, Sarah Collier, Andrew Gower and more—thoroughly enjoyed the chance to reunite once more.
