What is Season 1 of Lupin about?
Warning: Spoilers for Part 1 ahead! In Lupin Part 1, viewers meet Assane Diop (Sy), a suave con man inspired by the adventures of the fictional character Arsène Lupin. Using his sneaky skills, Assane sets out to clear his father’s name after he was wrongfully imprisoned years ago for stealing a necklace that once belonged to Marie Antoinette. The Pellegrinis, an ultra-rich Parisian family who employed Assane’s father, alleged that he stole the necklace from them. Convinced his father is innocent, Assane sets out to clear his dad’s name and bring the damaging truth about the Pelligrinis to light. Also of interest in Part 1 is Assane’s personal life. Throughout Lupin’s first four episodes, viewers get to know Assane’s longtime love interest, Claire (Ludivine Sagnier), who’s also the mother of his son. In the Part 1 finale, we learn that Claire is indeed Diop’s wife. (Up until this episode, the nature of their relationship was relatively unclear.) And then there’s the big reveal: At some point in the past, Assane was cheating on her. Ultimately, Part 1 ends on a huge cliffhanger: Assane and Claire’s son is kidnapped by one of Pelligrini’s henchmen—on his birthday, December 11, which by no coincidence is also author Leblanc’s birthday—which sets up Part 2 in a big, thrilling way.
What is Lupin Part 2 about?
Expect Lupin Part 2 to be all about Assane saving and protecting his family. First and foremost, he has to save his son—but that’s complicated by the fact that Assane’s also wanted by police. So he not only has to confront a kidnapper; he also has to do it in the most inconspicuous way possible so as to not reveal himself. Or, as Netflix puts it in the caption of their Lupin Part 2 trailer, “Assane’s quest for revenge against Hubert Pellegrini has torn his family to pieces. With his back to the wall, he now has to think of a new plan, even if it means putting himself in danger.”

Each novella and short story was later curated into collections, making for a total of 24 Lupin books. So, who is Arsène Lupin?
