Like Lizzo, Wright is a very creative individual. In a 2020 interview with VoyageLA, Wright revealed that he grew up in Detroit and took acting classes, worked on art, learned guitar and gave many live performances, both solo and with his two bands. As a teenager, Wright was in a rock band called The Grey Level and a hip-hop group called Phresh Heir. His parents encouraged his creativity and drive, which led him to move to Los Angeles in 2012. After moving to LA, Wright started performing stand-up comedy, and he’s found a lot of success in this realm, with appearances in shows including Laughs and Adam Devine’s House Party. Although it’s not confirmed that this was the official first time they met, Lizzo and Wright worked together as hosts of MTV’s series Wonderland in 2016, which was a music-centered show that aimed to “showcase the hottest songs through unique live performances.” The two bright personalities had clear chemistry on screen, which appears to have continued into real life. It wasn’t until 2021 that Lizzo and Wright were first rumored to be romantically connected.
