Viewers have been obsessing over the dance choreographed by Jenna Ortega for Netflix’s hit series Wednesday, so much so that it has taken over our TikTok FYPs since debuting. Now Gaga, who plays a bit of a hidden role in the trend for those who aren’t familiar with her discography, is putting her own spin on it. The “Born This Way” singer went through a full-fledged transformation throughout the duration of the 17-second video, which was filtered in black and white. She started with a bare face, giving fans a tiny sneak peek at the makeup routine and hair prep that went into the look. She then adjusted her shirt, pulled up her socks, and donned a blazer before jumping right into the dance that the bulk of the internet has performed over the last week. “BLOODY WEDNESDAY,” she captioned the video, referencing her song “Bloody Mary,” which has often been used in place of the original “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps in TikTokers’ recreations of the viral dance. She wore a lacey, high-necked, button-up top tucked into a pair of high-waisted shorts, both underneath an oversized blazer. While they weren’t visible during the dance, she also wore a pair of platform heels over tall plaid socks. Her bleach-blonde hair was put up in a set of intricate braids as she offered her own take on the dance, which included infinitely more energy and joy than the original—though we’d expect nothing less from Mother Monster. “YES MOTHER,” one fan wrote in the comments “THIS IS AS ICONIC AS IT GETS,” news anchor Megan Mitchell said. The compliments continued with comments like, “If I was Jenna Ortega I’d be losing it right now 🤩🥰🖤,” and, “cause of death: gagged by gaga. 👏🏽” Meanwhile, someone else joked, “love how she’s kinda late to her own trend.” Naturally, as another fan replied in the comments, we’re all manifesting: “we need you in season 2 🚨”
