The former Today Show host shared a thoughtful message on Twitter to honor Philbin on what would have been his 91st birthday. Gifford shared an old black and white photo that captured the two’s professional relationship at its best. Philbin can be seen posing with his mouth opened wide and one finger pointed to the sky while Gifford laughed away at his antics. Along with the photo, Gifford penned a touching tribute to her fellow host. “I miss Regis every day,” she wrote. “But this is a particularly difficult day as we remember this amazing man who would have been 91. Sending love to Joy and the rest of their family as they celebrate an extraordinary man and life.” Philbin and Gifford began co-hosting the morning show Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee together in 1985. They continued to host the show together for 15 years, before she left in 2000 and Kelly Ripa took over as the show’s co-host in 2001. Philbin passed away on July 24, 2020–just one month shy of his 89th birthday–after suffering a heart attack, according to USA Today. After his passing, Gifford also shared a special tribute to her beloved colleague on Instagram, which you can view below: More News:
