Thanks to Dish, we now know which spooky film each of the 50 states favors this Halloween, and the results might surprise you. According to the findings, the 12 movies that are most-loved by states across the country are Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus, Scooby-Doo, Coraline, Gremlins, Coco, Ghostbusters, The Witches, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Halloweentown, Hotel Transylvania, and The Addams Family. In five states—Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, South Dakota, and Vermont—Beetlejuice came out on top. The beloved family Pixar film Coco stole the hearts of New Mexico and Texas, while the 2009 movie Coraline, directed by Henry Selick, is the favorite in 10 states, including Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Utah and Washington. Love for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial unites three corners of the country, with Hawaii, Florida, Maine, and Maryland all favoring the classic Steven Spielberg film the most during the spooky season. Ghostbusters is another favorite for many states, with eight–Idaho, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin–having the film as their top pick. In Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and West Virginia, 1993’s Hocus Pocus took the number one slot. Surprisingly, there are a few states that stood out from the pack as the sole lover of certain films. This includes North Dakota, which loves Gremlins, Oregon with Halloweentown, Wyoming with Hotel Transylvania, and Montana with The Addams Family. Dish also included the District of Columbia in the list, which favorited the creepy film The Witches. The most popular Halloween movie, at least according to this data, is Scooby-Doo, with 13 states having the live-action adaptation starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini as the top pick. These states, of course, are Alabama, Alaska, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio.
