Duchess Kate paired the vibrant coat dress by Catherine Walker with a pair of red suede pumps and the late Queen Mother’s sapphire and diamond earrings. Completing the look was the a slick of red lipstick and glossy tumble of gently waved hair! The dress happens to be the same one that Kate wore to Prince Philip’s funeral in April, although that version was of course black. She was joined by her husband Prince William at the venue where their glittering wedding was held more than a decade ago. And as on that spring day in 2011, the couple’s families were in attendance, listening to the Westminster Abbey choir raise their voices to the vaulted roof. (As did special guests Ellie Goulding—who sang at the Cambridges’ wedding reception—and Leona Lewis.) Pippa Middleton wore a gorgeous forest green coat for the occasion, while her and Kate’s new sister-in-law Alizee Thevenet looked effortlessly chic in a checked red and white suit and brown leather brogues! This was one of James Middleton and Alizee’s first appearance as newlyweds since their dreamy boho wedding in the south of Frances in September. They were joined by the Middleton parents Michael and Carole, as well as other members of the royal family: Princess Eugenie (also in a forest green dress, this one cape-style) and her husband Jack Brooksbank; Princess Beatrice (in camel) and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi; Sophie, Countess of Wessex; and Zara and Mike Tindall. Among the 1200 guests were people supported by charities of which William and Kate are patron, and health care workers. One particular special guest was 6-year-old Mila Sneddon, who has leukemia and for whom Kate dressed up in a special pink ‘princess dress’ earlier this year. In a caption posted to Instagram, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said that the service was an opportunity to reflect “on the extraordinary challenges we have faced in recent times and celebrating the acts of kindness that we have witnessed across the nation as communities pulled together to help each other and protect those in need. “The event will be broadcast in a special programme on @ITV at 7:30pm on Christmas Eve.” Next up, Here’s Why the Royal Women—the Queen, Kate, and Camilla—Wore Colorless Jewels to Prince Philip’s Funeral
