In an exclusive conversation with Parade, Ricci, 42, revealed if she gave Ortega any advice ahead of the Tim Burton-created series. But according to Ricci, who played the iconic character herself back in the ’90s, Ortega, 20, already knew exactly what she was doing when it came to bringing the character of Wednesday to life. “She didn’t need any advice from me,” Ricci told us of the Scream and YOU star, who apparently has no problem filling Wednesday’s pigtails. “She’s such a talented actress.” “Her take on the character is so smart and feels so timely and appropriate,” Ricci further teased of Ortega’s performance. “She carries through that like spirit of dignity and self-respect that Wednesday’s so loved for.” “Again, she’s such a talented actress. I mean—she’s amazing,” she added. Ricci played Wednesday in the 1991 film The Addams Family as well as the sequel Addams Family Values, which debuted in 1993. She will even be making an appearance in the upcoming Netflix series, though her specific involvement has yet to be disclosed. We even asked Ricci about the super-secret role during our chat, though she wasn’t at liberty to spill any details. “I can’t even make a joke about it,” she quipped. Fans will instead have to tune into the premiere of Wednesday, which is expected to begin streaming on Netflix Nov. 23. Luckily for us, Ricci was able to share a little bit about the upcoming season of Yellowjackets, which she thinks may have the potential to top the first season. “I have to say, we now have read 4 scripts, and each one is better than the last one,” she spilled. “It is crazier than last year, it’s more surprising than last year. It’s really fun. I think it’s gonna be better than Season 1.” Ricci plays Misty on the supernatural series, a role that got her nominated for an Emmy at the 2022 awards. While discussing the complicated character, Ricci told us the “most challenging thing” is keeping Misty “grounded in reality.” “That character is so extreme sometimes, that she could go a bit clowny, or more of a caricature and I just so want her to be believable as a real person,” she explained. “So I think that’s always the hardest part. And it’s fun sometimes too, when you get into the more extreme aspects of the character but I have to be really careful of not being too indulgent, because thats I think when things become a little too broad.” Yellowjackets is currently in the process of filming for Season 2, which is slated for release in the first half of 2023. Ricci also discussed her new partnership with pet food brand Stella & Chewy’s as part of its “All You Need is Raw” campaign, while divulging some of her family’s Halloween plans! More News:
