Fans were left scrambling when the singer made the decision to postpone her residency at the last minute this past January, with some having already arrived on the strip for the big night. At the time, Adele apologized in a video statement, sharing that they were unable to pull the production together in time, citing Covid infections across her team as a factor. “I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone that’s traveled again. I’m really really sorry," she said. The residency was eventually rescheduled to begin yesterday, Nov. 18, and the “Rolling in the Deep” singer took a moment during the opening night of “Weekends with Adele” to address the elephant in the room. John Katsilometes, a columnist at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, was in attendance, and he shared several video clips from the evening, including a few moments from Adele’s big speeches, which were incredibly emotional. “I should be giving you a standing ovation,” she told the roaring crowd. “Thank you so much for coming back to me. I really appreciate it. You look amazing and it looks just what I imagined it would look like. It’s perfect.” She went on to admit, “I’m so scared and I’m so nervous, but I am so happy. I don’t know what the f–k I was thinking putting piano ballads at the top of the set. Hopefully, over time, my nerves will disappear. " Ahead of taking the stage, Adele shared some similar sentiments on Instagram alongside a photo of her sitting in the audience section of the performance space. “I’m feeling all sorts as I write this,” she began in her caption. “I’m highly emotional, incredibly nervous but can’t sit still because I’m so excited.” She went on to share that she always feels scared before performing. “I take it as a good sign because it means I care and means I just want to do a good job,” she continued. “Maybe it’s because I didn’t start when I was supposed to. Maybe it’s because it’s opening night, maybe it’s because Hyde Park went so great, maybe its because I love the show I don’t know. But it’s safe to say I’ve never been more nervous before a show in my career, but at the same time I wish today was tomorrow! I can’t wait to see you out there x.” Based on the audience’s response, it’s safe to say she more than killed it. Adele’s residency now runs through Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Caesars Palace.
